General information & key figures

The Krasnodar region occupies a leading position in Russia in the wine industry thanks to its unique natural and climatic conditions.

Today, the Krasnodar Region accounts for 28 thousand hectares of active vineyards, the total reserve of vineyards is 51 thousand hectares. There are 8 main wine regions: Anapa, Temryuk, Gelendzhik, Yeisk, Crimean, Novokubansk, Novorossiysk and Abinsk. The leaders in terms of vineyard area are the regions of Temryuk and Anapa.

The region ranks first in Russia in terms of production volumes of grape wines (48% of all-Russian volumes) and champagne (36%). You can find wine for every taste in the Region: red, white and rose, dry and semi-dry, sweet and semi-sweet, still and sparkling.

Production of high quality wine with terroir character depends directly on the place where it is grown. Therefore, the choice of the right land is the key that will determine all further work of creating a vineyard: from breading the vineyard to selecting grape seedlings.

Vineyard plantations in the Krasnodar Territory are spread out on the most fertile lands of the coast: the Taman Peninsula, Anapa (Sukko Valley), Gelendzhik (the village of Divnomorskoye), Novorossiysk (the villages of Myskhako and Abrau-Durso) and many other corners of the region benefiting from an abundance of solar heat and comfortable soils.

To develop the raw material base for winemaking, hundreds of hectares of new vineyards are planted annually in the Krasnodar Territory - in the Temryuk, Krymsky, Yeisk regions and in Anapa, Gelendzhik, Novorossiysk.

The largest wineries in Anapa:

  • Abrau Durso
  • Chateau Taman

Gastronomic and wine tours are also organized, which include not only tastings, but also acquaintance with the history of winemaking in the region, starting with ancient Greek traditions.

The best time for enotourism in the Russian south is from May to September. During this period, the vineyards of the Krasnodar region and the surrounding hills are covered with lush greenery, and wine tours can be combined with a seaside holiday.
