Business Visas are issued if you have a business matter in the Russian Federation such as attending a conference or a seminar or meeting clients.
The inviting Russian company has to make an invitation which then has to be transformed into an official invitation issued by the Federal Migration Service or the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
Once you have the original copy of this invitation, your visa application is complete and must be sent to the Russian embassy.
Like for tourist visas, business visas can be single or double-entry visas for a period of up to 90 days, or a multi-entry visa for a period that depends on the existing bi-lateral agreements (if there are no such agreements, a multi-entry visa can be valid for up to 1 year). For example, US citizens can apply for a 3year Multi-Entry business visa. These visas may be issued for a Single or Double-entry period of up to 90 days, or a Multi-Entry for up to 1 year (with exceptions to countries covered by bi-lateral agreements).
