Despite the relatively small agricultural territory on the scale of Russia, the Krasnodar Krai has always managed to maintain a leading position in the agro-industrial complex thanks to the climate, soil fertility and efficient business organization with personnel and modern equipment.
In fact, for decades, the Krasnodar region has been the main breadbasket of Russia and the guarantor of the country's food security. The region holds the 1st place in terms of gross agricultural production in the country producing rice, grain, sugar, sunflower, grapes and vine. In addition, the Krasnodar Territory is one of the country's leaders in the production of meat, eggs, cheese, and gross milk yield. It's also notable that half of Russian berries and fruits are grown in the Krasnodar Territory.
Chernozem soils represent 4,716 thousand hectares of the plains of the region; they are dark in color, friable, have good structure, are rich in nutrients and produce high yields of agricultural crops.
Almost all areas of the food and processing industry are concentrated in the region, the potential of which is capable of providing the population and guests of the region with basic types of food products. There are more than 2,200 enterprises in the food industry of the Krasnodar region, of which 200 are classified as large and medium-sized.
Last but not least, the Krasnodar region annually exports about 150 types of agricultural products to 135 countries (!).
